Gary Bennett joined BHP Sport as a Consultant in November 2010 and is highly respected in the North East sports community having represented Sunderland AFC for over 11 years making him one of the longest serving players at
the football club.
Gary went on to manage and play for Darlington football club and was part of the team that made it to the playoffs final in the 1999-2000 season. Gary's achievements include reaching the FA cup final, League cup final, and being Captain his team for 5 years at Sunderland AFC.
Gary now broadcasts for BBC radio covering all Sunderland matches and is an ambassador for the city as well as a leading figure in the 'Show racism the red card' - A campaign against racism in football and society.
